The expected value of the delays drawn by sample in the current model state.

Following the conventions of statistics libraries, it is Double.POSITIVE_INFINITY if the expected delay diverges, and Double.NaN if it is undefined or unknown, for instance when the delays do not follow a single distribution. Distributions whose delays depend on the model state may expose a different value at each read: consumers should read it when they need it rather than storing it.
